In this 6 week course you and your dog will learn the skills, steps and information needed to become a certified therapy dog team. Class will take place at various public locations to practice your skills in real-life situations and with real-life distractions. The final week will include the Control Evaluation required to become certified. Dogs must be over a year old. Cost is $225.
Prerequisites: Dogs must have taken the Pre-Therapy Training Class, done private training through A Dog’s Life, or have passed a Canine Good Citizen test.
We require the following vaccines:
Distemper/Parvo, Bordetella, Rabies, 1st Round of Canine Influenza* and a Negative Fecal Exam
*We understand there is a nationwide shortage of the Canine Influenza vaccine. As long as your dog is on a waitlist for the vaccine and is not showing symptoms, you are welcome to attend classes.
