Training Class Policies

Vaccine Requirements:

Puppy Classes & Socials:

  • 2nd Round of Puppy Boosters

  • Bordetella

  • 1st Round of Canine Influenza*

  • Negative Fecal Exam

All Other Classes & Workshops:

  • Bordetella - Once Yearly

  • Distemper/Parvo

  • Negative Fecal Exam - Once Yearly

  • Rabies - Dogs over 6 months

  • 1st Round of Canine Influenza*

*We understand there is a nationwide shortage of the Canine Influenza vaccine. As long as your dog is on a waitlist for the vaccine and is not showing symptoms, you are welcome to attend classes.

Your registration attests that your puppy is up to date on all medical requirements by start of class. If you are unsure about your puppy’s status, please contact us. If your dog is not up to date prior to class, you may attend without your dog until we receive updated information.

Class Attendees:

A Dog’s Life welcomes family participation in our classes. Children under 18 must be accompanied by an adult unless otherwise specified. We ask that all children follow these guidelines:

  • Ask before petting another person’s dog.

  • Practice good listening skills while the instructor is talking.

  • The items on the floor are for puppies, please avoid standing on or moving them.

During puppy play time only one family member is preferred to be involved. We need to view all puppy interactions and extra bodies make it difficult to do so. Also, children may not be aware of fast moving puppies, and we want to prevent injuries.

What to bring to class:

  • A standard leash and collar (or harness). Extendable leashes, choke chains and prong collars are not allowed.

  • Plenty of small, soft, smelly treats. Crunchy treats can be inhaled in excitement and are easier to choke on.

  • Consider the variety of treats you bring to class. Some exercises may be harder work deserving better pay!

Attendance:

If you are unable to make a night of class, your instructor may provide you with the information missed if applicable. Makeups may be done virtually at the discretion of the class instructor.

There will not be makeups available for Intermediate Skills 201, Canine Good Citizen 301, Wild Woofers, Nervous Nellies, and other classes that may rely on dog interaction/distraction.

Weather:

In cases of inclement weather, classes will be done virtually. We will determine class disposition by 3:00PM. Notifications will be posted on our Facebook page and sent via email.

Other than instructor illness, there will be no class cancellations. If a class must be cancelled and rescheduled, the end date will be pushed out to allow for the correct number of classes.

Registering for a class is taking a spot no one else can have. A Dog’s Life GR does recognize that there may be extenuating circumstances and will always make a good will effort to work with client needs. Cancelling or transferring registration for a class more than 48 hours in advance will incur a $50.00 fee. Cancelling or transferring registration for a class less than 48 hours in advance forfeits the full class fee. There are no refunds after the first night of class.

Processing fees will apply to any changes.
